CALL FOR POSTERS Deadline: July 25, 2001 (extended) WABI 2001 First International Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics http://www.brics.dk/wabi2001/ BRICS, University of Aarhus, Denmark, August 28-31, 2001 The Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics covers research in all aspects of algorithmic work in bioinformatics. This includes: * Exact and approximate algorithms for genomics, sequence analysis, gene and signal recognition, alignment, molecular evolution, structure determination or prediction, gene expression and gene networks, proteomics, functional genomics, and drug design. * Development of methods, software and dataset repositories for development and testing of such algorithms and their underlying models. * High-performance computing approaches to computationally hard problems in bioinformatics, particularly optimization problems. WABI 2001 is sponsored by EATCS (the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science) and jointly organized and colocated with WAE 2001 and ESA 2001. For more information (program committee, keynote speakers, scientific program, ...) see the web site http://www.brics.dk/wabi2001. Poster sessions will be organized during the workshop. Moreover, 5mn of oral presentation per poster will be allowed in the regular sessions. The emphasis is on work that address important and new problems in molecular biology, while being founded on sound models and efficient algorithms. Double submissions or recently published results corresponding to this scope would be welcome. A volume containing the abstracts of accepted posters will be available at the workshop. Poster abstracts must be one or two-page long and prepared according to the LNCS style (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html). They must contain: the title; the authors and their addresses; an extended abstract, using the main text style (10-point type and single line spacing); the references. A standard postscript or PDF file must be sent to both chairs of the workshop, Olivier Gascuel (gascuel@lirmm.fr) and Bernard Moret (moret@cs.unm.edu), before July 25, 2001. Authors will be notified about acceptance before July 29.
