Research

In October 2011 I handed in my PhD dissertation titled "Low-Power Wireless Sensor Network Infrastructures" to the Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University.

As the title of my PhD dissertation suggest my research focus has been on wireless sensor networks. My main focus has been on low-power communication protocols, but I have also developed a number of tools for developing low-power sensor network applications. The first three years of my study I was involved in a research project on sensor network based surveillance in the building construction industry called SensoByg. Here I was part of the F1 framework group which developed a network/software architecture to fulfill the requirements of the SensoByg project.

The SensoByg use case scenarios involved measuring temperature and humidity in concrete at low frequencies (up till about once a month) using small sensors that communicate over the wireless channel. The main challenge was to achieve long lifetimes for the resource restricted sensor nodes.

Code

My practical work with sensor network have resulted in quite a few lines of code implementing protocols and tools. Most TinyOS code is available under tags and branches at:
